Yesterday it was warmer here than in Tallahassee where my brother and his family live! 22 F in Tallahassee and 45 F in Anchorage.

Flood warnings along Chester Creek and houses being flooded. In January, no less. Last night we came home (at 12:15 AM) to a grader moving snow on our street to open a drain. The main street by our house has been flooded since the melting started. He (or she) uncovered one drain and we no longer have flooding in that area, but another drain on the next corner is still covered with snow and ice and there is some buildup of water. That drain has to be thawed every winter.
